Aurora Music ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Aurora Music (the "App").

By using Aurora Music, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

1. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

Aurora Music stores the following data locally on your device only:

• User Preferences: Theme settings, language preferences, display options, and app configuration
• Listening History: Your recently played tracks (up to 1,000 events) to provide personalized suggestions
• Play Statistics: Play counts for tracks, albums, artists, and playlists to improve recommendations
• Playlists: User-created playlists and liked songs
• Cached Data: Album artwork, artist images, and lyrics cached for offline access and performance
• App Settings: Audio playback preferences, notification settings, and UI customizations

This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

2. Analytics Data (Microsoft Clarity)

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how users interact with our app. Clarity collects:

• Anonymous usage patterns and session recordings
• UI interaction heatmaps
• App performance metrics
• Crash and error reports

Clarity does not collect personally identifiable information. All data is anonymized and aggregated. You can learn more about Microsoft Clarity's privacy practices at clarity.microsoft.com/terms.

3. Error Reports

When the app encounters errors, we collect:

• Error messages and stack traces
• Timestamp of the error
• Device and app version information

Error data is stored locally and may be sent anonymously to help us improve app stability.

Aurora Music connects to the following third-party services to enhance your experience:

Lyrics Service

• Provider: LRCLib (lrclib.net)
• Data Sent: Song title and artist name
• Purpose: Fetching synchronized lyrics for your music
• Privacy Policy: lrclib.net

Album Artwork & Metadata

• Providers: Deezer API, iTunes/Apple Music API
• Data Sent: Search queries containing song/album/artist names
• Purpose: Fetching album artwork and music metadata
• Privacy Policies: Deezer, Apple

Artist Images (Optional)

• Provider: Spotify API (only if configured with API keys)
• Data Sent: Artist names
• Purpose: Fetching artist profile images
• Privacy Policy: spotify.com/privacy

Donation Platforms (Optional)

If you choose to support development through donations, you may be redirected to:

• Ko-fi (ko-fi.com/privacy)
• Buy Me a Coffee (buymeacoffee.com/privacy-policy)

These platforms have their own privacy policies, and we do not receive any personal payment information.

Data Security

We implement the following measures to protect your data:

• Local Storage: All personal data (playlists, preferences, listening history) is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to external servers
• No Account Required: Aurora Music does not require user registration or login
• No Cloud Sync: Your data stays on your device and is not synced to cloud services
• Encrypted Storage: Sensitive data uses the platform's secure storage mechanisms

Data Retention

• Local Data: Stored on your device until you uninstall the app or manually clear app data
• Listening History: Limited to the most recent 1,000 events
• Cached Content: Artwork and lyrics cache can be cleared through app settings
• Analytics Data: Retained according to Microsoft Clarity's data retention policies

Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

Clear Your Data

• Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data
• Clear app cache through your device settings
• Clear specific data (playlists, history) through app settings

Opt-Out Options

• Disable notification permission to prevent notification-based controls
• Disable internet access to prevent any external data fetching (lyrics, artwork will be unavailable)
• Use the app offline to minimize data transmission

Control Analytics

While analytics are anonymized, you can limit data collection by:

• Using the app in offline mode where possible
• Reviewing your device's privacy settings for app permissions

Children's Privacy

Aurora Music is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app is a music player for locally stored content and does not contain age-restricted features.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Aurora Music ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, or use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Aurora Software CZ ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Description of Service

Aurora Music is a free, open-source mobile application for Android that allows users to:

• Play locally stored music files on their device
• Organize music into playlists and libraries
• View synchronized lyrics fetched from third-party services
• Display album artwork and artist information
• Customize the app appearance and playback settings

3. License Grant

Aurora Music is open-source software released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPL-3.0).

Under this license, you are granted the right to:

• Use: Run the software for any purpose
• Study: Access and examine the source code
• Modify: Make changes to the source code
• Distribute: Share copies of the original software
• Distribute Modifications: Share your modified versions

Copyleft Requirement: Any modifications or derivative works must also be released under the GPL-3.0 license. You must make the source code available when distributing the software.

4. User Responsibilities

By using Aurora Music, you agree to:

• Legal Use: Use the App only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws
• Content Ownership: Only play music files that you own, have purchased, or have legal rights to access
• Respect Copyright: Not use the App to infringe on any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
• No Misuse: Not attempt to harm, disrupt, or exploit the App or its third-party services
• Accurate Information: Provide accurate information when contacting support or reporting issues

5. Third-Party Services

Aurora Music integrates with third-party services to provide features like lyrics, album artwork, and metadata. By using these features, you also agree to the terms of service and privacy policies of:

• LRCLib (lyrics)
• Deezer API (artwork and metadata)
• Apple Music/iTunes API (artwork and metadata)
• Spotify API (artist images, if configured)
• Microsoft Clarity (analytics)

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content provided by these third-party services.

6. Intellectual Property

Aurora Music: The Aurora Music name, logo, and branding are owned by Aurora Software CZ. The source code is licensed under GPL-3.0.

Your Content: You retain all rights to your music files and any playlists you create. We do not claim ownership of your content.

Third-Party Content: Album artwork, lyrics, and metadata fetched from third-party services remain the property of their respective owners.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

AURORA MUSIC IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY
• FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
• NON-INFRINGEMENT
• ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF CONTENT

We do not warrant that:

• The App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure
• Defects will be corrected in a timely manner
• The App will meet your specific requirements
• Third-party services (lyrics, artwork) will always be available

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, AURORA SOFTWARE CZ SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of data, profits, or goodwill
• Damages arising from your use or inability to use the App
• Damages arising from third-party services or content
• Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise) and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Beta Software Acknowledgment

Aurora Music is currently in beta testing. By using the beta version, you acknowledge and agree that:

• The App may contain bugs, errors, and incomplete features
• The App may crash or cause data loss
• Features may change or be removed without notice
• Performance may not be optimal
• You are using the App at your own risk

We encourage you to report bugs and provide feedback through our GitHub Issues page.

10. Termination

You may stop using Aurora Music at any time by uninstalling the App from your device.

We reserve the right to:

• Discontinue the App or any feature at any time
• Release updates that modify functionality
• End support for older versions

Upon termination of your use, all locally stored data (preferences, playlists, cache) will be deleted when you uninstall the App.

11. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective when posted. We will notify you of significant changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms
• Displaying a notice within the App for material changes

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Czech Republic, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Czech Republic.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Aurora Software CZ regarding the use of Aurora Music and supersede any prior agreements.
